These banana smoothie recipes are great for breakfast but also try them as a snack anytime of day. You can try a variety of fruits, juices or yogurt flavors to change up a banana smoothie. Bananas are one of the most widely eaten fruits throughout the world. They are easy to handle, go anywhere, and kids love them. Bananas are available year round. They are imported from South America to the United States. Bananas are high in potassium, fiber and Vitamin C. It is easy to stock your freezer with banana chunks for future smoothies. Cut into chunks and lay on a cookie sheet and freeze for one hour. Take bananas off cookie sheet and place in a ziploc baggie for future use. Store in the freezer.
Basic Banana Smoothie

All you need for this simple, nutritious and delicious snack are the following items:
1 banana
½ cup of yogurt (preferably non-fat or low-fat)
1 cup of crushed ice

All you have to do is chop up the banana, add the ingredients to the blender and then blend. You’ll notice that this recipe does not include a liquid – bananas are softer than most other foods and blend easily, especially with yogurt added.

This recipe should result in a thick, creamy texture – you can add half a cup of milk as well if you feel the smoothie is too thick.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie
1 Cup frozen strawberries
2 -8 oz cartons of strawberry or other flavor yogurt
1 Cup milk
1 banana, broken in pieces
Add ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Serves 3-4 people.

Banana Date Smoothie
2 bananas, cut in chunks
5-6 pitted dates
1/4 Cup apple or other juice
1- 1/2 Cups milk
4-5 ice cubes
Add ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

Banana Sweet Smoothie
5 prunes
1 banana, cut in chunks
2 Cups milk
1 Tablespoon honey
5-6 ice cubes
Add ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

Banana Oats Smoothie
1 Cup milk
1/4 Cup oats
1 banana, cut in chunks
1 Cup apple or orange juice
5-6 ice cubes
Add ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

Banana Orange Smoothie
1 Cup berry or orange yogurt
1 banana, cut in chunks
1 orange peeled and sectioned
5-6 strawberries
Blend until smooth.
