Coffee Smoothie Recipes

Unique Flavors

People who love coffee may be happy to know that coffee smoothie recipes are applicable to any type of coffee, cappuccino or flavored coffee. You can even use decaffeinated if the regular kind gives you the jitters or you cannot drink it for health reasons. Coffee smoothies also provide a quick and filling breakfast for those who prefer not to eat a large breakfast in the morning.

Antioxidants
Coffee is actually the number one source for antioxidants, those beneficial molecules that fight against the damaging affects of free radicals. Most people think that raw foods like vegetables and fruits are the best type of antioxidant foods. However, several clinical studies have shown that coffee is slightly more powerful in preventing oxidative harm to the cells in our bodies.

These findings do not mean to encourage coffee drinkers to begin drinking more coffee right away. Experts suggest two cups of coffee daily to be sufficient in providing antioxidant benefits without stressing the circulatory system with too much caffeine.

Low Calorie/Low Carb
In addition, while coffee by itself contains no calories or carbohydrates, coffee smoothies that you prepare may contain quite a few calories or carbs, depending on the other ingredients. If you are watching your caloric or carbohydrate intake, always check the counts for the ingredients you add to your coffee smoothies.

Tips for Coffee Smoothie Recipes

Don’t throw away unused coffee. Put it in the refrigerator and use it later when making smoothies
When you make desserts that call for chocolate and vanilla, consider using leftover coffee as a flavor enhancer. Coffee tastes great when blended with chocolate and vanilla.
You can also make convenient coffee ice cubes to use when making coffee smoothie “slushies”.
Combining coffee ice cubes and fresh coffee in a smoothie will result in a strong-tasting coffee smoothie.
