Protein Powder Smoothies

Healthy Living

Whey protein powder smoothies are a great way for adding a little extra nutrition to your smoothie. Did you know whey is a natural part of cheese making? Remember the nursery rhyme about Little Miss Muffet eating her curds and whey? Whey protein powder is a high quality protein powder that gives your body extra amino acids in an easy to use method. Incorporating whey protein into a smoothie manages to hide the chalky taste of the protein so you can drink it with less difficulty. You can use it in other ways than just your smoothies, but whey powder works well in smoothies because it easily blends with the other ingredients without overpowering it.

About Protein Powder
As an indirect by-product of cheese processing, whey protein has been the focus of intense research regarding its nutritional qualities. Results indicate it may contain anti-inflammatory and cancer-reducing properties, as well as components that successfully combat heart disease. Whey is rich in branched chain amino acids, chemicals enhancing muscle and protein synthesis. Because of its ability to speed muscle and energy recovery following times of physical stress, weight trainers frequently consume whey protein smoothies as part of their daily diet.

Be aware that because whey protein is created from milk, those with lactose intolerance should use whey isolate rather than whey powder. Allergic reaction symptoms include itching, swelling and hives.

You can use any of your favorite smoothie recipes and add a scoop of whey protein powder whenever you need a protein boost. You can also buy different flavors of protein powder for a change in flavor.

Here are a few to try.
