Vegan Smoothies

Healthy Living

An apple a day may keep doctors away but a vegan smoothie each day will also keep you healthy and fit. A smoothie for vegans differs significantly from most of the smoothie treats that are commonly served. Share your smoothie recipes for vegans below for others to try.

How do you make a vegan recipe for smoothies?
To qualify as a smoothie for vegans, the recipe must not include any type of animal products as ingredients. This means that smoothies are not made with milk, cheeses, dairy products or honey. The vegan life style embraces the concept that all of the nutritional elements you need are going to be found growing naturally somewhere on this planet. Plants, fruits and vegetables can be combined to create smoothies that are tasty, low in calories and easy to make and vegan friendly.

Not only are these concoctions good for your sensibilities and ideals they are also a good treat to use if you want to lose weight. A smoothie for a vegan is filling and satisfying without jolting your system with a sudden sugary overload. You will discover that you can shed that excess fat and boost your energy just by enjoying a delicious smoothie-vegan style.

How to Make Vegan Smoothies
To make smoothies that are vegan style, you just need a regular blender and an assortment of your favorite fruits or vegetables. Choose the ingredients of your choice, combine, blend and enjoy. You can add 100% fruit juice and ice to enhance the flavors and texture of your smoothie. If you use green veggies as part of your ingredient list the color of your vegan style smoothie will be a greenish hue but just give it a try, the taste is refreshingly good and you will have a new way to eat your recommended daily amount of veggies.

You can enjoy a smoothie for breakfast each day, as an occasional treat or substitute these yummy beverages for some of your regular meals. Some people do enjoy combining both fruits and vegetables in the same blender but those vegan smoothies made only from fruit are extraordinarily sweet and delicious.

Smoothie Tips for Vegans

Try to use only the freshest vegetables and fruits when you are preparing to make vegan smoothies. This will give you the best taste and texture in your finished product.

Adding ice to the blender will produce a frosty, rich smoothie. You could use ice with the vegetables, but most people add ice to a smoothie made with fruits such as bananas or berries.

Do not over process the ingredients. Most smoothies only require 30 seconds or less of blending time.

Experiment with flavors and ingredients to determine which ones produce your favorite style of smoothie. Who said mangoes, carrots and tomatoes do not go together? The only way to find out is by trying a smoothie combination that includes these vegetables and fruits.

You can add fresh spices by adding mint leaves or thyme to your smoothie drink. You should chop the leaves before tossing them into the blender to extract more flavors and this process also allows the machine to blend these ingredients into the vegan smoothies more thoroughly.
